Our perspective is that a monitoring device should be evaluated as part of a working arrangement. Who receives an alert, verifies it through authorised channels and maintains the equipment? Which organisation pays for connectivity and repairs? These questions belong in the initial partner discussion, together with land access and community priorities.
A practical starting point
An SME pilot could assess sensor reliability, reporting routines and maintenance capacity with land managers, communities and relevant authorities. Define what evidence would justify continued use and how responsibilities transfer after the pilot. The aim is a prevention system people can sustain, with trained and authorised teams responsible for any emergency response.
